Doubles and Bubbles!

Most of today was doubles for Team USA. Kristen and Olivia played well enough to beat Canada 3-0 and then later in the day TROUNCED the home team - Guatemala. Doubles is best of 3 games and our women won 2-0. Tomorrow, they face top seed Argentina.

In the mixed doubles, Todd and Amanda made quick work out of top seed Mexico. They also won 2-0 and came back from 7-10 in the second to win the match. A thriller! Tomorrow, they face the winner of Colombia/Brasil. They are hungry for a win!

The mens doubles team of Julian and Graham opened the day with a 2-0 win over Brasil. Later in the day, they lost a close fight against top seed Mexico. Tomorrow is a rest day for these male players as they prepare for Teams which start on Wednesday!

Our doubles teams are very strong given how little they practice doubles together, and at altitude, and on a singles court! The teams look sharp in their kits and in order to keep them uniform, I have been at the lavanderia (laundry) several times today. I plan to return tomorrow to ensure we have proper clean gear for the pool play. Hence the title of this entry - doubles and bubbles!

The day isn't complete without mentioning the USA vs. USA womens singles semi-finals this eve. Natalie beat Amanda 3-0 before a standing room only gallery. Natalie goes up against Samantha Teran from Mexico tomorrow night in the finals at 7:30 pm. It's going to be a great day!

You'll hear from us again late tomorrow eve as the promised Sporta Club internet has now been renamed by me the interNOT as the router crashes with more than 1 user. I dont even try to access it anymore, much less try to upload a picture. HHmmm....
