FARAZ WINS CONSOLATION

Faraz Khan, the last man standing from the US Team played in the consolation final against Felipe Tovar of Columbia. Both players showing the affects of several matches were playing tired, sluggish squash. However, Faraz with his flowing movement was able to hang on long enough to win 3-1.

COME BACK KID.... COLUMBIA

Having lost in his first match to 9/16 seed Tyler Osborne of Canada, Edward Columbia has shown true focus and discipline throughout these World Championships. Against Belgium player Jan Van Den Herrewegan, Columbia played incredible squash to fight back from 2-0 down to eventually win in 5 games. His next macth was against Liam McClintock, fellow US Team member, and again Edward came back from 2-0 down. With 2 five game matches in his legs, Edward was unable to summon enough energy for his last match against Adam Aukland of England, losing in straight games. Like all the team members on his trip, Edward is only 16 and elegible for next years individual and team event.

MURRAY MEETS HIS MATCH

Dylan Murray played Declan James on the all glass court a the Hernentalls squash center. It was clear from the outset that Dylan was slightly nervous, making some uncharacteristic errors. As the game progressed and Dylan became more comfortable on the glass court he was able to control the 'T' for periods of the game. It's clear Dylan was up against a more experienced player, although showing moments of brilliance. This ends Dylan's run in the World Championships, he has played his best squash securing a top 16 finish and taking the level of squash in the States to ever higher levels.

US TEAM PROGRESS

After some hard first round macthes the US team re-grouped and played their way to wins against Germany and Holland. Liam McClintock has been struggling with illness since arriving in Belgium. After visiting the doctor it turns out he has been playing with an ear infection! Despite all this, Liam showed true guts and determination to defeat German player Johannes Herz 3-1.

TJ Dembinski played against Dutch player Guido Ploem and took a solid 2-0 lead. In the third game, after some interesting decisions from the referee's, TJ lost focus to make the match go to a fourth game. Showing a more mature game, TJ composed himself and took the macth 3-1.

Struggling to find his normal game on the glass court, Faraz Khan (US Team nutritionist!) lost in four games to a strong Belgium player Jan Van Den Herrewegan. However, with all US players still alive, spirits are high as we move onto the next round.

Murray upsets French #1

Dylan Murray played his second match against Jerome Dadot a 9/16 seed in the round of 32. 16 year old Murray played disciplined patient squash, working his opponent relentlessly into all four corners. Winning in three straight games, Murray stunned his opponent and the French team. Now moving into the top 16, Murray plays Declan James of England.
