Grainger fights back

Although Latasha and Amanda had already clinched the win for the U.S.
Natalie Grainger, once again showed her professionalism, by battling back from 2-0 down to tie her match against her Dutch #1 opponent, Vanessa Atkinson, another former world #1. Then trailing 10-7 in the 5th game, Natalie fought back saving 3 match balls to take the game into overtime, before falling short 12-10. This match may not have been of consequence to the final result, but it showed the heart and tenacity of our #1 and the rest of the team.
Tomorrow (12/2) we play 2nd seeded Australia. A surprise win would put us in the top 4. A lost would put us in the hunt for spots 5-8. Regardless, the U.S. has achieved one of its major goals here: to finish within the top 8.

The results of today's match against Holland are as follows:

#2 Latasha Khan beat Annelize Naude
15-13, 11-7, 11-7

#3 Amanda Sobhy beats Orla Noom
6-11, 11-1, 11-5, 12-10

Dead Rubber:
#1 Natalie Grainger lost to Vanessa Atkinson
10-12, 7-11, 11-3, 11-3, 10-12
